Performing outside South Africa for the very first time was unforgettable. At just 12 years old, stepping behind the decks in a new country felt like the biggest leap of my journey so far. I was nervous, excited, and determined to prove that age doesn’t define passion — music does.
The Build‑Up
The days leading up to the gig were a whirlwind. Rehearsals stretched late into the night, playlists were tweaked over and over, and I kept imagining what the crowd might be like. Would they connect with my sound? Would they dance the way I hoped? Every question added to the anticipation, but it also fueled my drive to be ready for anything.
The Moment
Walking onto the stage was like stepping into another world. The lights seemed brighter, the crowd louder, and the energy almost overwhelming. My hands shook as I pressed play, but the moment the first beat dropped, everything changed. The nerves melted away, replaced by pure adrenaline. Suddenly, it wasn’t about me anymore — it was about sharing something bigger, something universal.
The Lessons
That night taught me lessons I’ll carry with me forever:
Preparation is everything: Hours of practice gave me confidence when it mattered most.
Nerves are normal: They’re proof that you care deeply about what you’re doing.
Connection beats perfection: The crowd doesn’t want flawless — they want energy, authenticity, and a reason to move.
Looking Ahead
That first gig abroad reminded me that music truly is a universal language. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or how old you are — if the beat is right, people will dance. And that’s the magic I want to keep chasing.
✨ This was just the beginning. I’m excited to keep crossing borders, one set at a time, and to share every step of the journey with you.
